How we learned how plants absorb water - Junior Infants

After exploring and discussing how trees and plants get their food and water we decided to do an experiment to show the very important job of roots in a plant. We used celery, water and red colouring and left it over night to let it work its magic. The children were amazed the next day to see that the red colouring had travelled up the celery stalk.  They explained what had happened in the experiment through talk and discussion in pairs work.
